Ok so living in Australia for most of our lives, we have come to see Europe as the holy grail of holiday destinations. This is mainly because Australia is positioned at the arse end of the globe and everywhere from there seems to 10 million light years away and will cost you and arm and a leg to get there. Since we moved to Asia, we are now just a skip and a jump away from Euro, so of course we try and get there as much as possible while we can!
We have the same trip down pat. We catch a red eye from Singapore and arrive in Rome at around 6am. We go straight to the car rental and get one of those ridiculously tiny cars Mr Bean drives / everyone in Europe. From there as it’s so early in the morning, we skip the morning traffic and get to Positano by around 10am. We are poolside drinking rose by 11am. You usually can’t check in till about 2pm or so, and trust me rose by the pool is a perfect solution to this!
We found this amazing hotel in Positano called Hotel Villa Franca. Room views were epic, food fabulous and aforementioned pool? A must.
If you want to stay a little out of the hustle and bustle of Positano and have a later sunset (yes seriously you get around 1 hour more of sun due to the shadows from the mountains), book into Casa Angelina at Praiano. You have to drive or catch the bus to Positano, but other than that, Praiano is a gorgeous little town in itself. Plus a benefit of Casa Angelina is it’s own day club on the rocks called One Fire Beach Club. Another day well spent!
