When I first found out I was pregnant – and with twins no less, I kinda freaked out. I mean how overwhelming is it when you’re a new mum to be and you have NO idea what on Earth you’re gonna need come due date (or in my case earlier than that thanks to a multiples pregnancy). Time was not on my side! Anyway, I reached out to my friends and asked them to send me a list of all the things I would need… Times two! But all these things meant nothing to me – like what is the difference between a diaper bin and a regular bin? Are all cots created equal? Which stroller is handy and functional but cute as hell? C’mon surely you can be a mum but still be chic? When all these questions and confusion reigned in my head, I was thankfully pointed in the direction of Mothercare Singapore’s nursery advisor programme.

I headed in store to Mothercare Singapore’s Paragon outlet and was met with Amy. Hello Amy… Help! Ok let’s just put it simply – Amy was a lifesaver! With so many products on the market and even if you do your own research, it’s really difficult to know what items are the best for you. As a nursery advisor, Amy walked me through the store, step by step and found products that would be suitable for me and the babies according to my lifestyle. Amy was like a human newborn checklist! Basically the real life Siri of the baby world!
First of all, I explained what I required most – the big ticket items like cots. I really was after something that was safe, easy to use and gorgeous – remember guys I like my chic! I was recommended the perfect little one from Stokke – the Sleepi Bed in white. This one impressed me so much as it’s designed to evolve with your baby’s growth – it can be used for years to come. Essentially if you get the extensions it can be used up to 10 years of age! Sold! Also the oval shape was quite unique – I found most cribs were square which was not only bulky but can lead to your bub being ‘stuck in a corner’. Say no more Amy – this one was for us! I mean these two!

Next up, the stroller. But we also required car seats. These were hot on the priority list as when you exit the hospital, you need to bring the babies home obviously. But um could we bring the hospital staff with us? No? Ok! Anyway back to our predicament. So having car seats at the ready were key for us in being prepared to bring our precious little ones home. With Amy knowing my passion for fashion there was the ideal solution – the Cybex Mios Jeremy Scott Wings in Black. This is a fabulous 3-in-1 system that is compatible with the Cybex infant car seat Aton Q. So in short – the car seat becomes the stroller ‘chair’ – you just take it out of the car and click it into the lightweight frame. The frame is so easy to use and folds up so nicely – great to just keep in the car boot or packed away into a wardrobe. I can’t stress enough how often we have used these strollers. We’ve even taken the twins on their first overseas trip and couldn’t recommend them any more highly. In fact I’ve been stopped in supermarkets, cafes and on the streets with people asking me where I got them from. The girls love them too – they are comfy enough to sleep in them when we are out and about – they don’t fuss and struggle to get out.

Another product that we hadn’t even heard of that Amy suggested was the Dockatot. It’s not even something we had considered but guys… This has been awesome for us!! Essentially, it’s a docking station for you bubs ages 0-8 months. It allows babies to chill out around your house. We kept ours on the couch so we could watch E! (shameless plug I know!) and keep an eye on the girls when they were resting between feeds. I’ve since suggested this to many new mums.

In summary, I highly recommend the Mothercare Singapore’s nursery advisor programme. It was incredibly informative and extremely helpful to a stressed out new mum to be with NO IDEA what was going on. I felt really assured after the session and better equipped for the biggest change in my life that was about to happen. Thank you Mothercare Singapore!
