The funny things is, the first time I went to Bangkok, I didn’t like it… I hated it! I landed as a 19 year old travelling novice at 3am in the morning into this bustling city. My uni friends and I caught the bus (ridiculous considering a taxi is so cheap) and got dropped off into a random place. As we struggled to walk the pavement-less streets with our trolley bags, we saw people chopping off fish heads, crazy lights, stray dogs and the like. In our cheap hotel, we opened the window to find a brick wall behind it – I shit you not! But something happened. We went down to the islands and when I came back to Bangkok, I fell in love with it. Sort of even obsessed. I remember seeing a foreign businessman walking with his briefcase and said to Ben, wow I wonder what he does here and if he can work here without speaking Thai! All the while thinking in my head – we should do this! BKK became one place I didn’t want to leave. Strange thing is, all these years later, Ben ended up being that businessman walking the streets. Anyway, Cle de Peau Beaute and Buro 247 Singapore came to our pad and followed us around for a weekend – read more about it here. x
