Shipwreck Beach in Zakynthos is one place I’ve always wanted to visit. It is one of those places that you just see on Instagram and think… Can it really be that amazing in real life #nofilter? Well….
Ahoy sailors! We made it there! Our flight from Mykonos to Athens was delayed… Eek would the connecting flight to Zante be ok? We ran off the plane to our boarding gate and then… Waited 3 hours. Bad weather. Then flight cancelled. Trouble was, the Greek airport staff would be holding a strike the following day! How to get to this paradise they call Shipwreck? Our villa in Zante would have to wait. After much negotiation, we were put up in a weird hotel outside Athens which was playing some seriously bad 90s music – reminded me of the hotel in Dirty Dancing – full of families and teenagers… Anyway, after a 3 hour kip from midnight to 3am, we were back in a taxi to the airport for a 5am flight… The struggle was real people! Anyway… As you can see from the pics – it was all worth it!
We decided to hire our own boat for the day to see all these beaches and grottos only accessible by water. Between the 7 of us, it cost $80 Euros each. We set sail at 8am and pretty much had one of the best days of the trip. Our boat captain was hilarious – a Greek version of AJ from the backstreet boys! He took us to the best secluded swimming spots. Can you see that the water seriously looks like blue Gatorade??? The most beautiful water I’ve ever swam in. You have to go.
