There are so many options for facials these days. But here is one I’m a huge fan of at the moment.
The AquaJET treatment at Cambridge Therapeutics is my favourite and here’s why.
WHAT // AquaJET comes from Korea (already I’m all ears at this point) and is designed to deliver a deep cleanse of the skin – the deeper dermis levels. I have combination skin – oily in the t-zone and my biggest skin issue is clogged pores (wearing liquid foundation daily in humidity can do that to you!). The therapy is done using this jet contraption that spurts out active ingredients such as Lactic Acid, Salicylic Acid and Portulaca Leracea – which are highly effective in balancing oily skin. Basically, the treatment cleanses your face without extractions and breaking your healthy skin. Dead skin cells are also exfoliated and it helps in minimising pores.
The therapy is completely painless – the pulses give off a cool sensation – but not uncomfortable at all. I actually drifted off once or twice. The vacuum offers a gentle suction to also help to unclog the pores. The jet contraption (not official name I’m sure!) is moved around over my face in a circular motion with particular concentration on the problem areas – i.e. the nose!
THE VERDICT // Afterwards, my skin felt like I had run an ice cube across it, kind of a little bit flush. The surface and texture of my skin instantly felt smoother. The only downside would be that it does draw out some redness (and I am VERY prone to redness). But this is minimal and goes away after about 1 hour. I would say you notice the full effects when you wake up the next day. The skin seems revived, brighter and not as dull and lifeless as before. I think for the state of my skin, once a fortnight is perfect. It also helps those with acne problems – which thankfully I don’t have.
Also, just in general, I love Cambridge as it’s a classy, chic and extremely clean place – the doctors and therapists are friendly and you really do see the results. They’re not salesy and push you into buying packages or getting more treatments than you need. In fact, the doctor talked me out of a few things! I’ve recommended my friends here so there you have it!
