Beauty Review Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Wrap
Once a week I treat my face to a mask. I don’t really know what scientifically it does, but skin always feels smoother and more hydrated afterwards.
This week I decided to give Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Wrap a go. I’m not going to go through all the ingredients, or explain what the product claims to do… I’m purely reviewing this based on the effect it has had on my skin.
First of all, the consistency of the product is very creamy, almost rubbery, which I quite like. Usually I would apply a traditional mud mask using a damp paddle foundation brush, but due to this extremely thick (almost toothpaste like) consistency, I just used my fingers to spread it (somewhat!) evenly over my face. Note, I applied having already cleansed and dried my face.
The instructions say to leave it on for 10 mins, but I was busy taking these picks and trying to figure out self-timer on my DSLR that it was actually 20 mins or so in the end!
Unlike a mud mask, this one didn’t dry up completely, but rather still felt a little tacky to touch. It never dried up completely.
Rinsing off is similar (once again) to that of toothpaste – the thickness of the mousse dilutes out to a milky liquid. I washed this off with cold water, using circular motions upwards from my chin towards my forehead – never go the other way round, as it’s dragging your skin down!
THE VERDICT // After having dried off my skin, toned, and applied some serum, my face did feel flush. But I didn’t feel like the product absorbed any oils or tightened my pores, but I guess the feeling of the skin to touch was more well-circulated, and a little bit smoother, so to speak. I think based on this, the Shaping Facial Lift Wrap did feel like it tightened my skin and it was left noticeably brighter. All in all, my skin did feel dewy and fresh – almost like it had a non-abrasive deep cleaning effect.
As it’s not as harsh as other products, I think this is something I would use one a month, but for my once-a-week deep cleanse, I opt for something else… I’ll do a review on that soon. Watch this space.
