10 SPRING 2015 TRENDS YOU HAVE TO TRY
After trawling the net like a unemployed, middle aged geek who surfs the web from his parents basement, I’ve done a huge Instagram staking session and here are some of my picks for what is so maj, right now.
1. Half-up / Half-down hair.
This look is cool, cute and practical at the same time – that hair is outta your face! It looks effortless and casual and seen on the noggin of all the “IT” girls out there. Easy to create – get on it.
Whether you like it or not – they’re back baby! Everywhere I looked at MBFWA (fashion week in Sydney), these bell-bottomed babies were making even the most seasoned OOTD photog weak at the knees.
3. All-white everything.
Clean, fresh. White is the new black. The staple in the drobe, complimentary on all skin tones. Classic.
4. One piece swim-suits.
It’s not like the kini is out of fashion, but onesies are back on the scene in a major way. And surprisingly high-cut styles in particular. I would recommend a bit of research and trying on to find the right one for your body, as I actually think a one-piece is sometimes less forgiving than your traditional two-piece.
5. Reverse pinstripes.
Not black with white pinstripes, but the opposite. It’s not rocket science. Just a new take on an old style. But I like it.
6. Fitness gear as casual wear.
Workout wear need not just be reserved for sweating it out. Many designers have collaborated with sports labels – think Kanye West and Stella McCartney – and now some items cross over into leisure wear. Comfortable and stylish? Genius.
7. Volume blouses + exposed shoulders.
Maybe this is all staying within this revival of the 70s but a bit a volume on your blouse is pretty grouse.
8. Lace up everything – tops, shorts, shoes.
For some reason this is just damn sexy.
9. Gladiator sandals / heels.
Kate Moss basically invented these. Forget the Greeks and Romans. And now – they’re exactly what you need.
10. Skirts and skinny jeans / pants.
Unusual, but for some unknown reason it works. Kind of like Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs. You no longer need to consciously uncouple your pants and skirts. Hooray!
